Anushka Doke PhD Student at UMass Dartmouth

Hi!

I'm a first-year PhD student in the Engineering and Applied Science program at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, specializing in Machine Learning and Data Science. I'm part of the UMass-URI Gravity Research Consortium (U2GRC) where I work on gravitational wave searches and machine learning with Prof. Sarah Caudill.

Previously, I was a visiting student researcher at the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) at TIFR, collaborating with Prof. Prayush Kumar. My research there focused on the impact of strong magnetic fields, tidal deformability, and eccentricity on gravitational waves from binary neutron stars.

In May 2023, I completed my BS-MS dual degree from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune. For my master's thesis, I worked with Dr. Elena Cuoco (European Gravitational Observatory and Scuola Normale Superiore) on detecting and reconstructing gravitational waves from core-collapse supernovae.

I also have experience in experimental particle physics, working with Prof. Sourabh Dube at IISER Pune. My work involved analyzing data from the CMS experiment at CERN and developing deep learning algorithms for data analysis. I am passionate about using machine learning to solve physics problems.

Beyond research, I love listening to Indian classical music and have recently started learning to play the Indian percussion instrument Tabla.
